Referrals and Outpatient Services

At Whisker & Woof, we are proud to support our neighbouring veterinary practices by offering a collaborative approach to patient care. We understand that some cases can be complex and benefit from additional expertise or specialist equipment. That’s why we provide a limited but dedicated referral service for internal medicine, along with outpatient diagnostic services to help you get the answers you need for your patients.

Internal Medicine Referrals

Our head vet has a particular interest and advanced experience in internal medicine. We welcome referrals for:

  • Chronic or complex gastrointestinal disorders

  • Unexplained weight loss or failure to thrive

  • Endocrine disorders (diabetes, Cushing’s Disease, Addison’s Disease, thyroid disorders)

  • Haematology and immune-mediated disease

  • Infectious disease work-ups

  • Respiratory and cardiovascular cases requiring advanced investigation

We pride ourselves on thorough case work-ups, clear communication, and evidence-based treatment plans. Referring vets will receive detailed written reports following consultation, ensuring seamless continuity of care when the patient returns to their primary practice.

Outpatient Ultrasound & Endoscopy

For practices without in-house imaging or endoscopic facilities, we offer outpatient services for:

  • Abdominal ultrasound

  • Thoracic, ocular, and musculoskeletal ultrasound

  • Echocardiography

  • Flexible and rigid endoscopy for gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinogenital investigations

  • Biopsy collection under imaging guidance

Patients can be booked in on an outpatient basis, with results and images returned promptly to the referring vet.

Collaborative Approach

We believe in working in partnership with our colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for every patient. Our team is happy to discuss cases in advance to determine whether referral or outpatient work-up is appropriate.

How to Refer

Referring vets can contact us directly by phone or email to discuss a case, arrange a referral

consultation, or book an outpatient procedure. Please provide:

  • A brief case history

  • Recent test results (if available)

  • Current medications

We will liaise with you to ensure smooth scheduling and communication throughout the process.
