Endoscopy Services

At Whisker & Woof, we believe that accurate diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. That’s why we have invested in advanced rigid and flexible endoscopy equipment, enabling us to visualise and investigate a wide range of internal structures in both dogs and cats — without the need for invasive surgery.

What Is Endoscopy?

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a camera-equipped scope to look inside your pet’s body. This allows us to:

  • Directly examine internal organs and structures
  • Take high-quality images and videos for assessment
  • Collect targeted samples (biopsies or fluid) for laboratory analysis

Because endoscopy is less invasive than traditional exploratory surgery, pets typically recover faster and experience less discomfort.

What We Can Examine

With our range of rigid and flexible scopes, we can investigate:

  • Nasal cavity – for chronic sneezing, discharge, or nosebleeds
  • Airways and lungs – for coughing, breathing difficulties, or suspected foreign bodies
  • Stomach and intestines – for chronic vomiting, diarrhoea, weight loss, or suspected blockages
  • Bladder and urinary tract – for recurrent infections, stones, or blood in the urine

Benefits of Endoscopy

  • Minimally invasive – fewer complications and faster recovery compared to surgery
  • Accurate diagnosis – we can see and sample the exact area affected
  • Immediate treatment – foreign bodies (such as swallowed toys or bones) can often be removed during the procedure

Early detection – helps identify conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or cancer before they progress

Expertise You Can Trust

Our veterinary team has undergone comprehensive training in performing and interpreting endoscopic procedures. We use endoscopy purposefully — not just to look, but to take samples, confirm a diagnosis, and plan the most effective treatment for your pet.

What to Expect

Endoscopy is performed under general anaesthesia to keep your pet still and comfortable. Most pets go home the same day. We will discuss the entire process with you beforehand, including preparation, anaesthetic safety, and what we hope to find. Results from biopsies can be available within a few days if required.
